Pretty Little Liars Season 5 Episode 4 Thrown From the Ride Review

Hey Everyone!
It's been a week since my first post but I wasn't able to publish any other posts since now. In the meantime, I started to work in a company in Amsterdam as an intern ! I was so excited about it that I couldn't spend any time to write a blog post. However, I have plenty of things in my head to write about and they will come as soon as possible.

Yes, I am excited about plenty of things but one of them is of course Pretty Little Liars season 5. On tuesday evening, the first thing I thought about after I came home was the new episode. I don't know why but even if I expect (most people expect) too much in the first few episodes of each season, they don't make those episodes full enough. What I'm saying is that most of the time we only see long conversations between people rather than action or clues about A. Anyway, I' m hoping that in the next episode we will learn something new :)

As always:
ATTENTION!
After this point, for the ones who did not see the new episode, I will give some strong SPOILERS. Please don't continue to read if you don't want to see a spoiler.

Enough chatting about random things, let's dig into the episode! I wrote some things I realised while watching or some clues other people wrote on Tumblr into my notebook so that I won't forget about those little ideas. I know that writing it down while watching TV shows may sound "crazy" but it's a way that makes the show more enjoyable for me. I like to think of different theories and get excited about them :) Also, they actually make some little visual changes in the scenes to give clues I believe. I will give one example later in this post.

In the beginning of the episode, we see Hannah and Aria looking through the books outside of the school. Hannah realises that "Scarlet Letter" actually belongs to Shana and Aria catches her eyes. Some lines in the book are underlined. When Aria reads those lines, she thinks that it's about Jenna-Shana- Ali relationship. However, if you know PLL well, you may think that those lines are intentionally underlined by some people such as Mona who comes at that moment and starts chatting with the girls. I don't know if Mona really knows something and plays with the girls again but if I'm sure about one thing related to PLL, then it's the fact that people who look like guilty in the episodes are actually not guilty. At least not in the way we think of them to be. I approach every episode with this idea now.

The murder of Alison's mother was the focus of the episode. According to the police report, she was poisoned with pills that are different than she always take and those pills stopped her heart. Remember what I said just now? I don't think that Mr. Hastings killed Mrs. DiLaurentis since it would be so obvious. If I try to find the murderer by thinking, actually the first one that comes to my mind was Toby. I know some of you think that Toby was guilty once, now he is not. However, he is always out of town in some business we didn't even see. He was in London where Melissa and Wren stayed and we know that Wren is in this -A business as well as Melissa. In my previous post, I said that Toby may found out some things about his mother and things may have come to Mrs. DiLaurentis eventually. These are just ideas by the way.

About Aria... Most of the people in several social networks believe that she is -A. They think that the reason Ezra didn't show the rest of the story he wrote to Alison was to protect Aria who he found out to be -A during his researches. They believe that Aria doesn't know he knows yet which is why she talked to him about Shana.

I avoid thinking about the big -A actually because I don't want this TV show to end :) Instead, I generally think about little clues they give in the scenes or people's behaviours.

One of the things I realised in this episode was the change in the writing behind Spencer when she was talking to Andrew at school. It was first written as "Kaylie is the best" but then it suddenly becomes "KylA is the best". I was shocked when I saw that! This should be something important but we don't have the capability to understand it yet :)

One other thing was again about a scene with Andrew. When Andrew and Spencer are working in the backyard, they see a dead rat. Andrew warns Spencer not to get too close because they may be playing dead if they are afraid of something. "Playing dead in case of fear" is something that should be giving some clues. In that scene, I feel like his warning was not related to anything currently happening at that moment. Then I saw some other comments about this when I was reading people's ideas in Tumblr. One of them was saying that "Playing dead" may be giving a clue about someone we know is dead. I merged this idea with my idea which is Maya not being dead and boom! Now, I believe that it's possible for Maya to be alive. She may even be in the -A business or one of the friends of Alison to whom she was talking to on the phone when the girls were in New York Fitzgerald Theatre.

Alison is caught with her scar by the doctor. She doesn't reveal how she got that scar to Hannah which is really suspicious. If the story is really really really built on a twin theory just like in the book, then this scar may be our only chance to find it out because scars are one of the rare things that differ between twins. Let's see if we can find anything in the future episodes...

Paige again... She decides to be honest at the end of the episode with Emily. However, I still don't trust her since she is seen with Mona and Lucas talking to them about Alison while Mona claims to be having proof about Alison's "very truthful" story about her past two years.

Overall, the episode was not giving enough excitement in my opinion but I believe that things will heat up eventually in the next episodes. Hope you found this review interesting enough to be read. See you in another blog post.
